Android 4.4.1 code shows hints of Chromecast mirroring

Google could someday unlock a feature that provides Android users with the ability to stream their display to Chromecast. According to a key member of the Cyanogen Inc. team, Koushik Dutta, Android 4.4.1 KitKat has code relating to video output. Reportedly, all signs are that the APIs will lock things down to specific, approved apps and devices. As some of you know, Chrome browser mirroring works well on Chromebooks and laptops but the mobile experience is not as great.
We’re anxious to see what sort of ideas Google has for the Chromecast, mirroring, and the future of Android. At $35, the Chromecast is one of the best devices you can buy for the money. Various software updates continue to see new companies and services adding support and it becomes ever more valuable. Heck, even TIME named it the top gadget of the year! Why don’t you own one of these yet?
